Furneaux Lodge

Private Functions at Furneaux Lodge

The Furneaux Lodge is a unique, boutique hotel set in absolute wilderness. A gracious historic lodge offering personal service, cosy and inviting atmosphere, no distractions - mobile phones have no coverage - and a refreshing natural environment embraced by virgin native bush on the shore of the Endeavour Inlet. Absolute contrast to any office environment in New Zealand.

Our fully licensed restaurant offers function menus that highlight our outstanding local food and wines. We are also happy to work with you to create a theme and menu – from a la carte to barbecue – that specifically suits your requirements.

We can offer a range of activities and/or team building challenges.

Mountain biking expeditions
Kayaking expeditions
Hiking expeditions

Sailing excursions
Clay bird shooting

Myths and legends eco tour

There are so many things to do and see at Furneaux Lodge, relax and take it easy or take off on a wild ride through the Queen Charlotte Sounds, the choice is yours!
The beauty of Furneaux Lodge is that you don't have to do anything except breathe the fresh clean air. The only fragrance in the air apart from the native flowers and bush is the tang of the occasional barbecue.

There are no traffic noises to disturb your peace. Enjoy the simplest of pleasures. Wake up to the melody of tuis, bellbirds, fantail and other native birds. Experience the balmy evenings in the wonderful grounds surrounded by virgin native bush and the still waters of the inlet. After dark visit the magic of the glow worm grotto.

Take an early morning stroll on our own beautiful Waterfall Walk - takes approximately one hour to complete, just enough for the beginner. For the more energetic, various walks are accessible on the beautiful Queen Charlotte Walkway.
For the more adventurous, Furneaux Lodge can arrange fishing charters, sailing, parasailing, scenic helicopter rides and a host of varied activities.
Check out our links page for a full list of activity partners.
Take a trip into the past and visit the Antimony mines at the head of the inlet.
Fish from the wharf or take a dinghy out into the bay for bigger fish.
Discover the secrets of the inlet in one of our single or double kayaks.
Get together with a few friends and enjoy a friendly game of petanque, volleyball or cricket.
Sheltered waters, awesome wreck dives and established marine reserves surround Furneaux Lodge and create a unparalleled diver base in the Marlborough Sounds. The Mikhael Lermontov is the largest wreck in New Zealand waters and sits in 20m of water a short boat ride from Furneaux Lodge. Since it loss in 1986, the wreck has preserved well and for the experienced wreck divers is in pristine condition to delve deep into the ship. Furneaux Lodge can arrange dive charters for you and has Dive tank filling facilities on site, to ensure you can stay out as long as you wish.
