Your Overnight Experience

With over 123 years of local knowledge and experience, our passionate crew is looking forward to sharing with you the breathtaking and historical region that is the Bay of Islands.

Your overnight cruise will take you back to the roots of New Zealand human history. Northland (Te Tai Tokerau), is regarded as the birthplace of New Zealand. Your cruise will follow this historical and cultural path from the arrival of Maori and Europeans to the region, to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 between Maori and the British Crown.

With 144 islands and abundant marine and bird life, the Bay of Islands is one of New Zealand’s finest sub-tropical maritime parks - stunning during the day, and unforgettable at night. Ipipiri offers a relaxed environment, where you can do as much or as little as you like. The following activities are complimentary and are available to all guests:

  • Snorkelling (fins and mask provided)
  • Kayaking
  • Island excursions
  • Island beach & bush walks / swimming

If relaxation is more your style, then you can choose to soak up the views from the sundeck, read a book, play a board game or chat with our knowledgeable crew.

Fullers Bay of Islands, one of New Zealand's original sightseeing tour and cruise operators and GreatSights®, the premium national sightseeing company have come together to bring you Fullers GreatSights Bay of Islands. Today we continue the 123 year old tradition of fine service on board Northland's largest fleet of modern vessels and coaches designed with your clients' safety and comfort in mind.

Treating our passengers as though we are showing visiting friends and family around Northland is a philosophy held across the team from our drivers, and skippers, to the crew and retail staff. Our team is friendly, welcoming, extensively trained and experienced with local area knowledge and are passionate about sharing with you the history, marine life, scenery, culture and Maori mythology of the Bay of Islands and the Far North.

Ipipiri (e-pip-e-rey) is the newest addition to the Fullers GreatSights Bay of Island family. At 150 feet (46 metres) it is the largest cruising ship permanently based in New Zealand, and provides a truly impressive cruise experience in one of the most spectacular regions of New Zealand. Spread over four levels this catamaran includes 30 king state room a spacious sundeck with 360 degree views and a 70-seat restaurant and bar. Cruising at 12 knots through the sheltered waters of the Bay of Islands, the vessel has been designed to provide maximum stability and minimum wake.

Onboard Activities and Island Excursions
When Ipipiri anchors at sea, the onboard tender (a small run-about) ferry passengers to and from nearby sheltered and secluded islands to enjoy activities like snorkeling, swimming, tree planting and kayaking. The crew will help visitors with local information and provide interpretation of the many legends and stories unique to this area.
