Overview of the spaces available at Corban Estate Arts Centre. 

Old St Michaels Church

Former 'St. Micheals Church

The former ‘St. Michaels church’, (now called the 'Old St Michaels Church') originally stood in Great North Road directly opposite the Corban Family Homestead and was moved some years ago onto the Corban Estate. It now sits in parkland behind the Homestead, and the Henderson Heritage Trust have renovated the building. It is suitable for many different purposes; small scale performance events such as music recitals or poetry readings, exhibitions and displays, meetings and seminars, small scale dance or drama workshops, weddings, naming ceromonies, or social functions.

Capacity:
50 people seated.

Cellar Function Room


The Cellar Function Room is one of the oldest parts of the Corban Winery. This atmospheric space was where the wine was originally cellared, and in more recent times was the Corban Wine Shop, where the public came for tastings and to purchase Corban wines. This space is ideal for small scale functions and events.

Kitchenette (Oven, Fridge), chairs, tables, cutlery, cups, saucers, plates.

Capacity: 50 people seated. 


Theatrette

Cellar Theatrette

Adjacent to the Function Room is the Cellar Theatrette which is ideal for small scale performances.

Capacity: 38 tiered seats.

Please note: Access to lighting and sound equipment can be negotiated with the resident theatre group, the Waitemata Theatre Group.


 

 Homestead Studio

The lower homestead

In the lower level of the historic Corban Homestead there is space available for hire. This space opens out onto the large back verandah of the Corban Homestead, which is adjacent to one of the large ‘green areas’, located on the Corban Estate grounds.

Description:
This space is ideal for workshops, classes and meetings and can comfortably hold seated groups at trestle tables of up to 15, and 25 if seated only.

Features: Kitchenette, microwave, small fridge, chairs, trestle tables, cutlery, cups, saucers, plates, glasses, lino flooring, white board, pin board.

 

Opanuku Studio
Opanuku Studio being used for an 'Arts Enterprise Seminar
  Description:

The Opanuku Studio is a large open space with wooden floors and good natural lighting that is ideal for dance and performance rehearsals, workshops, meetings and small scale events. There is a well equipped kitchen adjacent to the main area. This room has recently undergone significant renovations and is a fresh and modern space, which includes a heating system, good lighting and a disabled access lift. The space is adjacent to a small carpeted reception area.

Capacity:
100 people seated

Features:

Disabled access lift, kitchen, oven, fridge, dishwasher, zip water heater, chairs, trestle tables, cups, saucers and cutlery, wine and juice glasses. 

 

 Work Room

Description:              The Work Room is a large industrial space situated at ground level which has a concrete floor. This area is ideal for messy type activities, such as painting, sculpture, or large scale assembly work. This room also has internal access to toilets, and kitchen facilities if necessary.

Capacity: Not Applicable

Features: Water and large sink, art tables, and chairs, concrete floor.

 

CEAC Meeting Room
Description:
The CEAC meeting room is a small meeting room situated near the Corbans Homestead and is suitable for casual, regular or one off hire for arts, cultural, or education meetings.

Capacity: 10

Features:  Meeting table, chairs, white-board

 

 Corban Estate Green Areas


The park-like grounds at the rear of the Corban Estate (behind Homestead) are available for hire for events and activities. To book this space we recommend you contact CEAC staff to discuss, who will then direct you to the booking system that is managed by the Waitakere City Council.
